WATER MAIDENS The photographer Michael Dweck submerges his camera beneath the water when making images of swimming women, capturing the interplay of rippling light, waving hair, and moving limbs. His pictures are on display in an exhibit at the Staley-Wise Gallery, "Mermaids, 2006–2008," among which is "Mermaid 41" (2007), above. Mr. Dweck's photographs have appeared in Vanity Fair, French Vogue, and Esquire. In 2004, he published a book on the surfing subculture of Montauk, Long Island, titled "The End: Montauk, N.Y." (Harry N. Abrams).
