"Stunningly beautiful." Indeed. 🇦🇷 Jolt has revealed the official trailer for an outstanding documentary film called Gaucho Gaucho, the latest work from The Truffle Hunters co-directors Gregory Kershaw & Michael Dweck. This premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year which is where I saw it and yep it's amazing. Absolutely stunning film, one of the most cinematically splendid documentaries of 2024 that is a must watch for any & every doc fan out there. It is a celebration of Argentine Gauchos – a community of cowboys & cowgirls living beyond the modern world's boundaries. "With the exception of the horse scenes, the camera is fixed, and it gives us the ability really to just capture these beautiful organic conversations." Kershaw & Dweck's focus is now on the vast mountains of Argentina, expressed in stunning black-and-white photography, and a small community of gauchos who hold profound connections to the surrounding nature and their own traditions. As older generations dispense their wisdom, the film keeps its eye toward a young generation who continue to fight for their families' legacy in a modern world. I cannot recommend this film more! It'll be streaming starting in December and it's also screening at DOC NYC & AFI Fest. Don't miss it.
Acclaimed filmmakers Gregory Kershaw and Michael Dweck, now three-time Sundance honorees, who previously took audiences to the secret corners of the Italian countryside in search of white truffles with The Truffle Hunters, return with another striking nonfiction work. Gaucho Gaucho paints an Argentinian Western with images and sounds of operatic beauty, building on their earlier success with The Last Race, a film that explored the final stock car racetrack of Long Island. Gaucho Gaucho is co-directed by award-winning doc filmmakers Gregory Kershaw and Michael Dweck, both directors of The Truffle Hunters doc previously, and collaborators on The Last Race doc as well. Produced by Christos V. Konstantakopoulos, Cameron O'Reilly, Matthew Perniciaro, Grazka Taylor, Kershaw & Dweck. This initially premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, where it won a Special Jury Award for Sound. Jolt will debut the Gaucho Gaucho doc streaming online (via Jolt) starting on December 1st, 2024. So who's intrigued?
